Careyd Away’s residential Golf Expert Russell J. Rulapaugh does a hell of a job weighing in on Tiger Woods recent struggles. Very interesting perspective from an avid golfer & major fan.
Factually the world’s tallest rollercoaster is the Kingda Ka in Jackson, New Jersey; in my opinion, the tallest coaster is located in John’s Creek, Georgia at the moment. That would be where Tiger Woods is playing this week, and would be referring to his career as of late. In 2009, it looked as if his career was going to continue to climb. Unfortunately, things that go up must come down. The only question is who or what is to blame?
First we can start with Y.E. Yang (who?). He was the first person to ever hunt down Tiger on Sunday at a Major. Tiger always said that it was only a matter of time before someone came from behind and beat him. So we will throw that out the window. Speaking of windows, do we blame the 9 iron that Elin used to beat in his window the night he crashed into a fire hydrant? When you live a life of lies, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets caught. Tiger came across as this perfect family man who cussed too much on the golf course. As a shock to everyone, Tiger lived a secret life that he believed was right. He was winning golf tournaments, had a beautiful wife and kids, was an official billionaire and had a different girl in his bed every night he was away from home. However, that has nothing to with hitting a little white ball up and down a golf course.
Let’s get to the golf aspect of this vertical drop. Tiger either fired Hank Haney or Hank quit. We will never find out the true reasoning behind the split, but it may end up being the pinnacle of the figurative rollercoaster. He was winning 45% of every tournament he entered. For those non-golfers, that’s like a baseball player getting a hit every other time he steps up the plate. Those are numbers that not only get someone into the Hall of Fame, but has him go down as the G.O.A.T. Haney is out, and Tiger goes to Sean Foley. If you’ve seen Hunter Mahan swing a club, then you may think that was a good choice. The only issue is that Tiger has a bum knee, and Foley teaches a swing that is not susceptible for someone with knee issues. Tiger looks like a lost puppy out on the golf course.
Tiger used to surround himself with the likes of Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Derek Jeter and Roger Federer. The four of those guys are Hall of Famers, and some of the best to ever play their particular sports; much like Tiger. Nowadays, Tiger hangs out with Notah Begay, Bryon Bell and his kids. MJ and Barkley were thought to be bad influences on him. The only thing that we as fans care about is if he wins. MJ won, Federer won, Jeter won and Barkley…well he’s just a hell of a guy.
In the end, the only person Tiger has to blame is himself. He stresses loyalty within his camp, but yet he is the disloyal one. The only thing he has been loyal to is Frank, his headcover. By the looks of things, Frank may need to watch his back, because Tiger is cleaning house.
